Infelizmente, temos que lhe informar que o OneHundred®️ Caminho do Ouro World Championship 2023, que estava previsto para acontecer em Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, de 8 a 11 de junho, foi adiado para 2024. Eventos climáticos extremos ocorridos desde janeiro exigiram um redirecionamento completo de recursos para a recuperação e reconstrução da infraestrutura regional. As fortes chuvas causaram o desabamento de uma das estradas do Parque Estadual do Itacolomi, levando ao seu fechamento até o presente momento. A Defesa Civil interditou o parque e proibiu a sua abertura para visitação. A reabertura não é prevista até que a situação atual seja resolvida, e já se sabe que o parque não reabrirá a tempo para a realização do evento. O Parque Estadual do Itacolomi é o local principal para os percursos do evento, assim como para os pontos de apoio, e sem ele, torna-se inviável a realização do evento. Sempre tivemos a intenção de levar nossos atletas às melhores trilhas da região, incluindo o ponto mais famoso, o Pico do Itacolomi. Compreendemos e apoiamos firmemente os esforços locais e concordamos que a segurança e o bem-estar da população são a prioridade máxima neste ano. No entanto, somos otimistas de que em2024, com a infraestrutura recuperada, será possível realizar nosso evento em colaboração com os governos e parceiros locais. Como participante valorizado(a), queremos assegurar que temos um plano claro para o reembolso desuas taxas de inscrição, emissão de um voucher para o evento do próximo ano e compensação por despesas de viagem não reembolsáveis. Anexo a este email, você encontrará um documento detalhadoque descreve o passo a passo para solicitar reembolsos e apresentar comprovantes de despesas. Caminho do Ouro in Ouro Preto!
The central region of the state of Minas Gerais, located in the Southeast of Brazil, is considered by all mountaineers who know it as the Disneyland of mountain sports. Marked by beautiful landscapes of mountains, valleys, rivers, and waterfalls, the territory also preserves legends, traditions, and stories that defined the culture and identity of Minas Gerais. There is no Brazilian state that is as well-known for its intimate and welcoming aspect as Minas. A land of hugs, memories, and other extremely precious riches. In addition to representing and celebrating one of the biggest trail running races in the world, One Hundred® Caminho do Ouro also seeks to offer a deep dive into this region that redefined the history of Brazil and Europe. It was in the last decades of the 17th century that the bandeirantes and sertanistas from São Paulo managed to reach the central portion of this state that would become known as Minas Gerais.
Historical Cities and Paths
Opening paths from indigenous trails and tracks, the sertanistas discovered in the upper Rio das Velhas, known by the Indians as Uaimií, an almost unprecedented multitude of precious metals in history. At the headwaters of this mighty river was established the Arraial do Padre Faria, the initial occupation of a village that in a few years would become one of the richest and most populous in all of America: Vila Rica, now known as Ouro Preto. Between the end of the 17th century and the first decades of the 18th century, thousands of Portuguese and African slaves would arrive in the region, a historical phenomenon remembered today as the Gold Rush. In the reverse direction, tons of gold were transported to Portugal, from where they also went to England. The discoveries in Minas awakened the dream and greed of thousands of adventurers to the same extent that it revolutionized the European economy. In the region of Vila Rica, paths multiplied. Between royal and official roads, many other trails were opened to facilitate the smuggling of metals. The paths avoided tax collection houses and established new villages and settlements on the fringes of the parishes controlled by the Portuguese Crown. A new nation was forged in adventures of blood and sweat, with disproportionate doses of freedom and savagery.
A Legacy to Discover
The 160 km of the One Hundred® Caminho do Ouro course were designed and drawn to contemplate the territory and landscapes that make up all this history. Starting from the heart of the city of Ouro Preto, the race follows trails traveled by indigenous people, roads paved by slaves, and paths officially or illegally opened during that period. From the neighboring city of Mariana, we head to important villages and settlements such as Cachoeira do Campo, Lavras Novas, Chapada, and Itatiaia. In each village, there is a support and reception point. With extensive and qualified tourist structure, the cities and districts of Ouro Preto and Mariana offer an exemplary picture of what it means to be from Minas Gerais.
